At Precious Memories, our mission is to preserve your precious memories. We understand how important your photographs and home movies are to you and we take great care in ensuring that they are preserved in digital formats to be more compatible with the modern digital age. Once digitally preserved you will easily be able to share, print, or store your old photographs or home movies. We do all scanning and preservation ourselves, in house. All of our editing and corrections methods are non-destructive. We will scan and store your negatives, slides, or movies in a resolution chosen by you and can output to a variety of media or formats. We also offer color correction, retouching, and basic editing if needed or desired, and can add motion graphics and titles to existing home movies. You will be kept informed through every step of the process, and have final approval of any changes, edits, or corrections.
Located in the Heart of the Berkshires, in lovely Pittsfield, Massachusetts. We serve primarily Pittsfield, Lennox, Lee, Dalton, Richmond, Great Barrington, and Cheshire, but can take orders from further away with arrangements for shipping and delivery of final products.
I have been working in digital film, video, and media for over 30 years. I have worked in Digital video and non-linear editing since the first generation of digital video capture devices. I have worked with digital imaging and enhancement for almost as long. I have experience and knowledge on numerous tools, technologies, and methods. I have training in photography and commercial and graphic arts.
Your photos or videos will be digitized at the highest compatible resolution to create master copies to then be used for all editing and correction. We can scan and preserve images and video in some cases in non-compressed formats which will prevent generational loss from repeated editing and work. From here, any cleaning, correction, or editing will be performed, and the final images or video will be output to a format and resolution of your choosing.
Simply send us an email. Tell us if you need us to preserve Photographs, Negatives, Slides, or Home Movies. Tell us how many Photographs, Slides, or Negatives, or the length of the Home Movie to be worked on. If it is a Home Movie, tell us what format the movie is (VHS, SVHS, 8mm, etc..), and the approximate Time index on the tape the segments you want start and stop (i.e. Starts at 30minutes into the tape, ends at 1hour 45minutes, etc...). If there are multiple segments to be worked with, please list the start and end times of each (an editing fee will be automatically applied to orders with multiple tapes or multiple segments). If there are multiple tapes, please let us know, and make sure you have some identifier on you tapes so that we can recognize each tape. Please tell us what type of film, or the sizes of photographs, and what work is needed. Also, please let us know your preferred shipping and return shipping methods. If you are in Pittsfield, Lennox, Lee, Cheshire, Richmond, Great Barrington we can arrange a drop off or a pick up of materials (for a modest fee). Please include a daytime Phone Number, your Mailing address, and a valid return Email for us to contact you at. Lastly, please tell us your preferred format for final output of any movies and media, and if you also prefer Digital Delivery or output to CD, DVD, os USB stick.
Once we receive all of this information, we will email you a price quote, and payment instructions. We will confer with you about any concerns or needs of your project. In order for us to convert your Home Movies, we need the tapes, it is important that if you mail your tapes you send them registered mail, signature required at delivery, and you might even wish to insure them. It is important that you have the parcel sealed at the Shipping Office, and marked as Magnetic Media (please, use the Magnetic Media mailing envelopes, they are shielded against static). We can not be responsible for lost, damaged, or mishandled tapes. In fact, if you live near by, we would prefer to arrange for you to drop of any materials or have us pick them up. All tapes and materials provided are returned with the completion of the job.
